Web Changes

This is where we'll announce the most recent additions to our web site for our wooden fishing kayak. If you've visited us before and want to know what's changed, take a look here first.  02/05/2009

  1. We have recently added a Questions and Answers Page that we post any questions that have come in along with Jim's answers.  We sometimes have the questions with no answers, but hold on.  We will go into Jim's emails to find the answers to post here.

  2. We plan to also post a Frequently Asked Question Page for Jim to create that hopefully will answer more questions that may come up.

  3. The webpage will develop based on our customer's needs.  If you have any additions that are needed, please let us know.  Karen Clark is the webmaster. Her email is karenclark41@gmail.com

  4. We are also exploring wholesale operations where we can purchase kayak accessories.  You can look forward to Kingfisher Electric Boats as being a one-stop-shopping experience for all your kayak and fishing needs.  Some of the products will be offered soon.  We will sell only items that we have personally used and tested. We intend to be a trusted source of quality useful products.

  5. We have put a interactive forum for our guest to share kayak ideas, tips, experiences and somewhere to ask questions.  Forum  We also included a fun place where you can put yourself on a map showing who and where you are. The map is lower down on this same page.  You will notice the icon of the world that you click on to list yourself. You can also choose to add yourself to a mailing list right below the icon of the world.

  6. We have added a Specifications page.  We have had several questions from interested people who can't find all the facts about our KF-10 boat. Check out this new page.  Let us know if we need to add more.

Kingfisher-10 News

We will also post news of projects of Kingfisher Electric Boats. Let us know if there are any particular facts of the Kingfisher-10 Electric Kayak that you would like to see us elaborate on.  If possible, we will post it here.

Take a look at Jim's new design!  This is a 12 foot kayak that has been asked for that holds two people.  He is in the building stage with the manual and specifications still to be documented.

We have had many request for a 12 foot two-seater kayak. We decided that what you want is what you get! The kayak is now finished!  We haven't managed to complete the manual as yet, but we ready to start selling the new 12 foot, two-man kayak!  Here are some pictures showing it built and the completed product.

You can see how well balanced the wooden fishing kayak is holding approximately a 175 pound fisherman.  The fisherman, Bob, from Mountain Home, Arkansas.  Bob normally fishes on Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas for Large Mouth Bass and Walleye. He loved fishing the river hands free!

Kingfisher-10 Events

On the weekend of September 7-9, 2007, we attended the Port Townsend, WA, Wooden Boat Festival with two of our Kingfisher-10 Kayaks. Read out blog where we talked about this fun trip up to Washington State.

Developments to keep an eye on:

  1. The rising demands for electric powered cars is fueling the development of vastly improved batteries.  It is very likely that in a few years a Lithium or perhaps some other type battery will become available in the standard battery form that has 4-8 times the capacity of the lead-acid battery.  I'm sure they will be expensive (one is currently available from China for $2035 USD; but as the production volume grows, the price will fall  - perhaps within reach.  This type of battery would power a kayak all weekend on a single charge.

  2. Check out the cart that is offered under Accessories.  It takes the work out of loading/launching and recovering a kayak and is inexpensive.

  3. States in the US have differing laws regarding the registering and operation of powered craft.  Check with your state's marine division for requirements for electric powered kayaks.  Here in Oregon, we have to get a hull number and carry a registration card.  It is not expensive, just another item to be aware of.

  4. We have had several requests for a two up kayak from folks who want to take along a friend.  Jim has completed a two-man kayak.  Plans will be available soon.
